This new graduate/entry level position is responsible for working directly with patients and assisting radiologists and/or staff physicians while administering x-rays in the course of radiological examinations in concordance with physician orders. The radiologic technologist shall be capable of operating radiologic equipment, perform a variety of radiological procedures, operate the picture archiving system, use radiographic supplies including contrast while providing patient care and patient safety as established by department standards. This position is responsible for performing a variety of basic clerical and housekeeping functions such as examination and work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection control. The level I technologist shall be competent in the following areas: general radiography, routine fluoroscopy including barium studies, emergent trauma radiography, radiographic technique formulation, radiographic quality control and portable radiographic procedures. Level I technologists exercise professional judgment while performing services in a demeanor complimentary to customer service, age specific criteria, safety and medical ethics.
EDUCATION: Associate Degree from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology and registered (or registry eligible) with the ARRT. The candidate must successfully pass the national registry test for radiologic technology within 12 months from the start of being registry eligible. Must be certified in Basic Life Support.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of Clinical experience in an ARRT accredited radiologic technology program. Additional on the job experience is preferred.
SKILLS: Must be able to perform a variety of radiologic procedures, (general, fluoroscopy portable) in a variety of settings with high regard for patient care and quality of work. Must possess a basic working knowledge of equipment to perform radiologic procedures and ancillary functions. Must demonstrate ability to provide basic patient care as related to Radiology.
